Refugee First Response Center
This is a worldwide first: the Refugee First Response Center (RFRC) is a medical emergency station with a unique combination of services.
I accompanied this project from the early concept stage to a rapid implementation with my human-centric approach to fully understand “The Refugee Journey” with all its relevant bureaucratic and medical touchpoints while entering the European Union.
In light of the European refugee crisis in 2015/2016, this modern medical office was conceived and customized in just 6 weeks and with the cooperation of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and the health department of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
The first pilot unit is operated by the University Medical Center of Hamburg-Eppendorf on the location of a refugee reception center supervised by the Red Cross of Germany.
RFRC received prestigious awards and recognitions. We are humbled & honored for progress and scale for good.
The Refugee First Response Center is a winner of the Aspirin Social Innovation Award 2016. RFRC was honored as an outstanding social innovation in health and nutrition-related areas worldwide.
Nominet Trust, the UK’s leading tech for good funder, has named RFRC in the 2016 NT1oo — this year’s 100 most inspiring social innovations using digital technology to drive social change worldwide.
Atlas of the Future and The Elders with B-Team (Virgin Group) named the project in their top 10 examples for social good.
